This is me, age 10, modeling the dress I made for my 4-H clothing project. The dress was light blue with a top-stitched front yoke, set-in sleeves, and a zipper in the back. I grew up in a large family on a farm in rural Minnesota. We all had home-made and hand me down clothes long before hand-crafted and vintage was vogue. I learned how to sew from my mother and older sisters. It was creative time cherished with family. After graduating from college, one of my first major purchases was a sewing machine. Through different jobs, children, and multiple relocation’s, sewing has been a part of my life. I have been making quilts for over 35 years. Quilts are not just something to put on your bed. Quilts can be used to add an instant splash of color to any room – on a sofa, wall, table, or railing…let your imagination decide. Make quilts a part of your decorating for the seasons!
